One well-known system is called the "Lojack." (www.lojack.com. Their web site is down at the moment, but try it in a few days to see if it's back up.) It's been around for a few years now; I don't think it's satelite based, but it does allow law enforcement to track a stolen car. If you watch "COPS" (Watcha Gonna Do When They Come For You?) and "LAPD" (Life on the Beat) you'll see, every once in a while, the helicopters and cars tracking down a Lojack-equipped stolen car. It seems to work quite well as long as the owner of the car notifies the police *before* the thieves remove/disable the Lojack transmitter in the car. The Lojack is probably not as sophisticated a system as what you have in mind, though. Another well-known alarm manufacturer for exotic vehicles is, of course, Clifford Electronics. (www.clifford.com.) They sell something they call "IntelliPage" which allows the owner to remotely-control various functions in their car from anywhere in the world. One feature of this system lets the owner shutdown their car using a pay phone or cellular phone. For details, go to their web site and click on "Security Systems." Then look for "IntelliPage." Good luck in your business venture, whatever you decide to go into.
