The Shift Up light is controlled by a combination of vacuum pressure in the intake manifold and electronic input from the fuel injection computer (if I recall) and tells you when to shift for optimum gas mileage. It isn't really an indication of when you should shift or when you have to shift. On my first Saab, I ignored it, but every Saab since I've yanked the fuse to turn it off. I cannot remember for sure, but I think in a 900 it's either Fuse #4 or #7 (9000s are the other one... ;). Have fun! -Justin
