Subject: Re: '98 Saab 900 - Dealer went ballistic

Agreed. However I was willing to NEGOTIATE for the car. Isn't that what one does at a dealership? The number I gave him was only $200 less than what I would have taken it for. It would give them a healthy (i.e. not excessive) profit and I would walk away feeling I had done my best too. BTW, there are 5 Saab dealerships in the Bay Area. This one wasn't even my first choice but since it's near my home instead of my work I figured "what the heck." There is NO EXCUSE for rudeness. This wasn't about profit, it was about ego--HIS. He couldn't stand that I knew my stuff and *that's* why I was practically thrown out. And, might I add, that if I were male, I'm sure our little negotiation would have gone differently and they would have made the sale of that car to me at the price I intended. BTW, the car broker I went to has relationships with several of the dealerships and she happened to use the one right near my work. So when I go to pick up my car it will be at the dealer who actually sold the car and is making a profit. Win/Win, yes? As far as service--the service center is separated from the sales office. So, you could drive in your brand new Saab and, unless you have special plate holders that say where you bought your car, the service people wouldn't necessarily know that you got the car from another dealer. The sales guys don't spend much time in the service center, from what I can see. SafeBoxSys wrote: > > Let me add my .01 > (my opinions aren't worth much more, YMMV) > > Dealer relationship is KEY.
