Hi John, Sounds like you have a good one there - a '78' and 2nd owner - kool! I have a 1976 99 GL that I've owned for 14 years now. I bought it when I was 16 and it quickly became one of my best friends. At 147,000 miles I had to park it in the meadow at my parents house because I couldn't afford the upkeep (sound familiar?) Anyway, I recently have the $ to bring him back to his former glory and I couldn't be happier. Between my brothers, my parents, and myself, we've owned 7 SAABs in the last 10 years and we've always taken them to Scandinavian Auto in Boulder, Co. I wanted to tell you that perhaps you should contact David and pick his brain, he's known in these parts as the "99 Guru" and he's president of the Boulder Valley SAAB Club as well. He especially loves 99's and has done a few stunning restorations for his own stable as well as helping out other people (ME!!) If he can't help you, and I would be surprised because he keeps a large inventory of used parts for 99's, then he could at least give you some information.
