Subject: Request Philanthropy for 1981SAAB900

I am willing to sacrifice a modicum of privacy in exchange for an opportunity. I will pull no punches. I own a 1981 SAAB 900 8 valve, 2 door, 5 speed, "Pumpkin Orange". I have owned it since 1993.december.08 when it had 174Kmiles. I love the damn thing so much that I still have it despite that fact that it died a miserable death 1996.october. With 223,867 miles, it lost it's timing-chain tensioners, killing the engine. To render it safely servicable it needs the following work: Engine replaced [cheaper than fixing it] Clutch rebuilt or replaced New/rebuilt CV joints New front left wheel bearing I have a mechanic - the best [and also the most reasonable rates] to my knowledge in this vast valley. He has quoted me a maximum of 1.2K$ Many point out that I might as well buy another car for that. I respond with, "After being fixed, the condition of the remainder of the SAAB will render it worth at least 2K$ I couldn't buy such a nice car for that much." It grates me to do this, but my desperation drives me. I would prefer to fix it myself, of course, but it has been over a year now and I still do not have anywhere near the money needed. I even had to drop out of school for lack of funds. I read all these posts from people that obviously have LOADS of cash [not everyone, I know, before you start flaming me], and I think: Perhaps there is one person out there who has TONS of money and also understands one's bond to one's SAAB. Perhaps this person wouldn't be opposed to philanthropically donating the funds for the fixing of my car, or at the very least, forking out a loan with VERY extended repayment options. I have references - good ones. If you are interested in helping this fellow human being, reply to this message here in this NG <alt.autos.saab>. I am still too paranoid about privacy to just post my e-mail addy flat out. If I find a sincere person, I am willing and able to provide more information complete with references. I am willing to work under any reasonable terms. I am able to offer some services in return that are computer related. Sincere replies only, please. If you are offended by this admittedly long and nigh-unto-spam post, I urge you to simply delete it from your sight.... Thank you Sincerely, 1981SAAB900
