No question: Saab traction is dramatically better than any of the Honda's I've driven, save the Passport and CRV. Mine is an auto, and with its "winter mode" engaged it's almost like traction control (which is also available on some models). For comparison purposes, I also have an Outback, and the laws of physics do favor the Suba when it's truly wet out there, but for a 2WD vehicle the 900 is quite an accomplishment. : How does the build quality hold up after the warranty fades? Mine's still under warranty, but I also owned an 87 900S for a while. It's simple: Follow the schedule maintenance religiously. Saabs are both fragile and durable at the same time; papmer them and they run forever. Ignore them and they'll make you pay... : It's winter here in NJ so I can't tell how well the A/C works, anyone : use it hard in 100+ degree conditions? The A/C on the 96's and earlier was a tad weak, from what I've read. Supposed to have been addressed in the later models. Mine has been pretty good, fwiw. On a related note, the A/C is one of almost 100 items that Saab works on each year; since the model is out there for the long haul -- look how long the last 900 series went -- Saab is using an evolutionary vs revolutionary approach to vehicle improvement. From small things like the seat (lenghtening the lower cushion, adding a lumbar adjustment) to electrical tweaks, each progressive year of the car shows a nearly identical, but substantially improved, vehicle.
