Subject: Re: Brake and ABS lights stay on???

I do'nt think this is a problem.I have the same with my '89 9000 2.0T It only occurs first start of the day. Once the car is warmed up the ABS and Brake warning lights go out within a few seconds, when starting up again. It would be a problem if the lights come on later, e.g when driving along. This would theoretically indicate a fault in the appropriate system. and would require immediate checking, for your own safety! In U.K. these lights must go out within a few seconds whilst the vehicle is undergoing the statutory M.O.T. vehicle test, otherwise a failure is recorded , and repair required for vehicle to be allowed back on the road. (usually a faulty ABS wheel sensor). We have recently had some lengthy discourse on ABS lights on the UK SAAB mail group, which seems to be a problem for a number of people. Especially 9000's of the '88-91 vintage. To reiterate,I don't think you have a serious problem, Tim, as long as the lights go out and stay out. Regards, Sandy Kinross, Perthshire, Scotland. Tim R.
