If it is really severe you may either need a new alternator or perhaps new brushes for the existing one. The 1979 and 1980 900's used a Motorola alternator that is not quite as durable as the Bosch units found in 1981 and newer cars. My original brushes were replaced about 1987, the alternator finally gave up the ghost early last year and was replaced with a rebuilt Bosch unit. BTW, you'll find the rheostat adjustment within the dash area. The left knob is for the clock, middle for the trip odometer and the right one for the dash and instrument panel lights. ___________________ Doug Crane Volunteer Jazz DJ KUVO Denver 89.3 FM dcranenopsamnet
