Right idea, but not quite... The wastegate on the turbo will open when the APC knock sensor detects knock, so the output pressure will be reduced. The turbo does not "cut out," though. There is also an ignition cutout to prevent gross overspeed, though it is well above the red line. Higher octane does indeed increase the power available. One question for anyone who might know: The older 900 Turbos were rated at their advertised horsepower with 92 octane gas, with a caveat that reduced power would be available with lower octane. I noticed the marketing brochures for the '98 Turbo says to use 87 octane. Is advertised HP available with 87 octane? Is higher boost still available with 92 octane? --------------------- John R. I run 92 in ny '91 900t and can really tell the difference when i can only get 88 - the apc toggles on and off under hard accelleration > >mark_orr <mark_orrnopsamceo.dg.com> wrote in article ><68hhtg$7tn$1nopsamurst.ccs.yorku.ca>... >> What is the correct gas for this car...brochure says 87 ron...but some of >> the GM web pages say premium???
