And the most common cause of a broken rotor is a broken tranny mount that allows the engine to rise enough to push the distributor cap into the hood, moving it into contact with the moving rotor. Be sure and check the front mount. Rotor is Bosch number 04168 about $9. Cap is Bosch number 03010 about $5. Motor mounts are about $80 for the hydraulic, $35 for the solid. There is a trick to prolonging the life of the front mount, email me if you are interested.
