Subject: Re: Peeling Bumpers on '87 900

>>>You can get your bumpers re-painted at your local body shop with bumper paint....Should only be about $ 250.00<<< It isn't paint that's peeling, so "repainting" doesn't seem to be the answer. I'm talking about a clear finish on black bumpers, apparently intended to provide a "permanent" satin finish, which over time has deteriorated..the deterioration starts out looking like translucent blisters, and then progresses to flaking and peeling. The finish that's coming off is relatively thick, about as thick as 3 or 4 coats of paint would be (I'm guessing here, but you get the idea). But it is not paint. And even if I wanted to paint the bumpers, which I don't, you'd still have to take that old finish off first. Since my neighbor has the same problem with his '87 900, I have to believe that this problem is widespread. Has anyone dealt with it? Rick Markert Katonah, NY
