Car has a electronic speedo, so its not that. Pinion bearings make more noise with speed and load, letting off the gas should diminish the noise. The noise is worse in higher gears. Wheel bearings make whining noises before rumbling. When they rumble, they are down right dangerous. At speed, try turning the wheel to throw the weight side to side and see if the noise changes, if it does it is a sure indication of wheel bearings.
