Try cutting up a coat hanger (it is about the same diameter as the tool) and make your own tool. The tool is simple a U shaped metal bar (there are two of them) that go into the holes on either side of the stereo. The real tool has extra "catches" built in so that when you stick them in the holes, you can pull the stereo out with the tool as well. So just make your own with a coat hanger, stick them in, and then put a finger in the cassette slot and pull out the stereo. Should work fine.
