Subject: Re: The Worst Car I've Ever Owned

: > : I've got a 1994 900 SE Turbo that I leased in 1994. : > Well there is your problem right there, you never had a Saab. You leased : > a GM Opel. :) That was also a terrible year as it was the first year of : > the "new" GM Opel. : In all seriousness though, is there a real difference in quality : and overall reliability between the pre-GM and GM 900? Well so far the latest model I have owned (and do now) are a pair of 1988s (one 900 and one 900S), so I can not persoanlly vouch for any of the GM models. However, it seems to be universally excepted that the 1994 model of the 900 (the first Opel model) was a disaster and had LOTs of bugs to work out. As far as pre-94 900s are concerned, all my problems seem to be with the normal stuff you find on every car and have problems with on all cars. Brakes, exhaust systems, ignored torn CV boots that resulted in me having to replace the CV joints ;), universal joints, shocks, and stuff like that. But the engines seems to last FOREVER. My last one (an 84 900) was literally falling apart and rusting away around the engine, but the damn engine just wouldn't quit. Then there are the Saab specific problems like drooping headliners, failing heater valves, failing odometers, and stuff like that. I think I also recall reading a lot that in 94 and later 900s, the GM 6 cylinder engine was no were near as nice as the Saab 4 cylinder. Comments anyone?
