Subject: HELP: 88 900 T Tranny ???'s

Hi all, I'm very new to this group since I've been a VW fan for so long! I just bought an 88 900 turbo convertable and I bought it knowing the automatic tranny is on it's way out. It doesn't want to shift in the low 3000's sometimes and it also doesn't go into reverse when it's cold or just been sitting for a few hours. I changed the tranny oil, but is there anything else I can check before replacing(or rebuilding) it? Is this a common problem that has an easy fix besides replacement? Also, how hard is it to install a 5 speed tranny(and all accessories) in this automatic car? Is there a hole for the clutch peddle from the factory? I love 5 speeds, and this car has so much power that is completely wasted by that crappy 3-speed tranny! Is there an automatic tranny that will fit that is better then the stock one? Thanks a lot!! Please e-mail me any replies to dreuxnopsamentric.net TIA, Dreux
