Dennis, I saw your post at the Saabnet.com site, but I will answer here. Is your 87 9000s a 5 speed or automatic? As for your other questions, here goes. 1. My 87 9000s is a 5 spd, no alarm, so I can't help you there. 2. Your oil leak may be from the valve cover gasket. The 87 9000s I bought had that problem, but I insisted the previous owner replace it before purchase. 3. My 9000s EDU only gives me the voltage from the alternator and the miles per gallon. You can toggle between the two by pushing the info button. If you hold the R (button) four at least four seconds, you can reset the display. The sliding light bar moves in conjunction with the vaccum and shows you your miles per gallon. When I start my Saab the EDU shows voltage initially and automatically switches to mpgs. 4. When you start your car the Automatic Climate Control should start in the auto position. Your compressor should come on. On cold days the heater controls should automatically turn on the front and rear window defroster. If your A/C is not working, your front windshield will not de-mist, so you don't have to wait until summer to find out if it is working. The ECON button turns the compressor off. I let my compressor run two or three times a week to keep the seals in good shape. Otherwise I run in the ECON position. Better gas mileage. 5. Your 9000s should have a pictograph, like mine. Mine has not had the Technical Service bulletin fix yet, so mine flashes when I use my left turn signal and when I step on the brakes. The flashing disappears when the headlights are on. If you want to check out the Technical Service Bulletins, go to www.nospam. I printed out 27 pages. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. My 9000s is rose quartz with the burgunday leather seats and interior...Good Luck. Ken Washington
