Subject: Bypass Oil Filter worth it?

I am seriously considering an Amsoil bypass oil filter kit for my "new" '97 9000CSE with AT (14,500 miles). My goal is to make the car last as close to forever as possible...80% of the 40-50,000 miles I'll be driving annually will be on New England interstates between Maine and Connecticut at 70-80 mph. I have been thinking that the best setup would be to use an Amsoil bypass kit with Amsoil or Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a 10,000 mile drain interval. The kit comes in two flavors...one where the stock full flow filter stays where it is and the bypass filter is mounted elsewhere, and one where both the bypass and the full flow filter are mounted together. Any thoughts/experience/suggestions would be much appreciated. -- John Womer
