Be careful with the Saab 9-3. I have a '97 900; the top of the line SE Model with the Auto AC and an automatic transmission. The problem is that the engine is very small and has trouble at idle with the AC on; especially with an auto transmission. I noticed that the 5 speed is smoother at idle with the AC on. Also, the AC needs to run at full for about 10 minutes in the summer (Michigan 80-90 degrees and high humidity) before the car cools down. And then, it is hard to keep the car cool; it is feast or famine. The car is either too warm or the AC is cranking full and is quite loud. What I am trying to say in this long winded message is that you should try the car on a hot day before buying it. -Doug GK wrote: > I used to live in Boston and I know that Saabs are great winter cars.
