my 85 900 stopped starting abruptly at 185,000 miles. come to find out my ingition module went bad. looks like an oversized amp. $$150 dollars at the saab store in tampa to fix it... they did the work. so dont know if any special tools needed. but took only matter of seconds and i was back on the road.... good luck saabs dont get any easier... i now have 245,000 on her
