Subject: Re: Convertibles and Carwashes

Hi, Iīm owning a SAAB 900 turbo convertible with a brown top. Of course the top is very expensive to change (say about 2500$) but im used to wash the car in a car washer. Not always - but (almost always.. no!) in winter time ... or when I got very little time to wash it by hand. Sure, washing it by hand is the better way!!! - But it the top resists the carwasher very well. (I wouldnīt dare to do so but I saw that my SAAB service center also wash the convertibles using a car washer - and they told me that itīs ok!) So what I wanted to say is, that itīs possible to do so - but you would be more satisfied to wash it by hand, also the top will last longer, but it would definitly be damaged by an automatic washer - it dies from opening and closing and leaving the top in an open position - you will have to solve this problem first - they all wear off !!!
