Subject: Re: Steering

: >Has anyone had a problem with the steering on a 1987 Saab 900S or any other : >year? : Are you talking about first thing in the morning? Saabs use GM racks, : which are prone to internal wear (seals are harder than the aluminum). : Known as "GM Morning Sickness".\ On a 1987, pre-GM days??? Not arguing, just asking. I know many of the "old" style 900s have a stiffness problems when the joint in the steering column gets old. Most shops will just replace that joint. Other people report you can work them free again by taking it apart and working it around in a vice grip. Other shops will diagnose it as a steering rack problem and want to sell you a whole new rack. Do NOT buy a whole new rack unless you know this joint (universal?) has been looked at first.
