Subject: Re: Buying a 9000 Help!

I own 2 1987 Saab 9000s. One is the 16v 9000s, the other is the 9000 turbo. In both, I've experienced electrical problems, including replacing the alternators. In the 9000s the dashboard computer is broken. The 9000s also has had a problem with the engine computer - occasionally the check engine light comes on for no apparent reason. Mechanically both have been very tolerable, for 11 year old cars. My wife and I tossed a coin and I lost, so she got the 9000 turbo. It is far preferable, both from a comfort and 'fun to drive' perspective. I will buy more Saabs, but beware of electrical problems on 1987 models.
