You may have LH 2.2 or 2.4 - 1989 was the crossover year. The easiest way to tell what verion of the fuel injection you have is by opening the hood, and looking for a cylindrical device on the very top of the engine, nearest to the front of the car. It will have two hoses going into it - one from the bottom and one out the side - and a connector on the very top. Pull off this connector - if it has two connections you've got LH 2.4, if it had three wires you've got 2.2. OKay... once you've figured that out, there are a couple possibilities. With 2.2, the check engine light is pretty much only responsible for major failures - the oxygen sensor or the air mass meter, and for fuel mixture. It will report (via the O2 sensor) if your mixture is too lean or too rich. A mixture problem is usually a problem elsewhere. If you've got 2.4, the CE light can be all sorts of things. 2.4 is pretty advanced, and will also store fault codes. There is a page somewhere on the net with how to check the codes the light can report, and what they mean. It's pretty complex, and I don't have all this stuff committed to memory. -Justin
