justin, In theory what you said is absolutlely correct. Except you are forgetting that the pistons are different. and the compression is different. And yes there are several older saabs running around with 16v engines. the explanation for this is that they either came with it (1985 and up) or their owners did a retrofit. Let me explain how i know this My current project is a 1979 saab 99 that i'm current'y putting in a 16v engine and tranny (5sp) off an 88 900 Turbo. the reason anyone would want the 16v is the better performance. besides it's MORE expensive (in many cases ) to retrofit an aftermarket slap on than go with what saab had intended for on it's engine. All you have to do is to ecquire all the sensors from the vehicle that you are pulling the engine from and then creating your own custom sensor array. (i kinda feel like geordi LaForge) (preform a level 2 diagnostic on that sensor array)...
