Tony, When I bought my 87 9000S in December, it had the same problem. Try cleaning the throttle plate assembly with some carb cleaner and resetting your basic idle and the throttle positions switch. There is more on this at the www.saabnet.com website in the FAQ section. My friend cleaned and made the adjustment on mine, and the problem is no more. If your's has an automatic idle control valve that has gone bad, the valve costs about $120 and is easily replaced. Ken Washington 87 9000S
