Subject: Re: Oilchanges

Ken- AMSOIL has 25 years of experience running synthetic motor oil for extended drains in millions of vehicles. They have oil analysis data for tens ot thousands of vehicles that have been operated with extended drains far beyond 7500 miles using AMSOIL products. This is actual use, on the road, real life driving. The notion that synthetics can't extend drain intervals because additives wear out as they do in conventional oils is itself a myth. Additives last longer in synthetic lubricants--this is documents through analysis. >First, it is obvious you sell Amsoil, so you are >anything but objective. Haven't made any secret about selling the stuff. And I think I'm quite objective about preaching that synthetic (even the not so good ones) are better than non-synthetic. >>Being retired military and having lived and driven overseas for >about 11 of 20 years, I have seen no difference in additive >packages for Castrol here or in Europe. Have you done oil analysis, tasted it, smelled it, burned it, or ??? Being retired military and having lived and driven overseas for many years myself, I never compared oil additive packages in those days<g> > I think Pat Goss and John Davis of >Motorweek might take exception with your characterization of European standards being tougher A few years back, Pat Goss saw no advantage to using synthetic oil. He still doesn't see any economic advantage to using synthetic ATF. But two friends of mine who called Ford about transmission problems were told they could solve the problems by a rebuild or use of synthetic ATF--when they mentioned AMSOIL, the Ford engineer knew of it and was using it--- And now Ford has synthetic base stock in their Mercon V ATF, required in some new vehicles. As far as the European oil specs--it is just fact that a few years back, the only American oils which met the European oil specs, specifically the NOACK Volatility test, were AMSOIL and Mobil 1.
