Here in Australia, we get ripped off rather severely with luxury car pricing. The very cheapest 9-5 I could buy today in Australia is a 2.3 Eco Manual, for the sum of $64,081. Even if you take the current xchange rate into account (which is buying a miserly 0.618 US dollars today. Damn you Indonesia ;) it's easy to see that the 9-5 price is highly inflated. (Actually, they were this price before the Asian Meltdown, so that just shows how screwed the prices are.) As for depreciation, well Saabs seem to depreciate markedly here in Australia -- far more than mainstream luxury cars. From a strict financial point of view, it doesn't make sense to buy a Saab unless you plan on keeping it forever. (Good thing not everyone looks at Saabs from a purely financial point of view!) The only good thing about this wild depreciation is that it's great for second hand Saab buyers. (BTW, convertibles seem to hold their value much, much better than non-convertibles.) -- David Wareing dwareingnopsamaide.on.net Macintosh Game Development <www.ambrosiasw.com/~dwareing> Get Mars Rising: <www.marsrising.com>
