One possible reason might be the large dealer incentives offered at the end of the 96 (and 97) model year: $2,000. This makes the "retail" price somewhat artificial. But the price would not be half that of a new one: are you surel you're comparing apples-to-apples as all the new models are turbos (so comparing the new 900S to the old 900S isn't quite fair). --Blair
