The '89 9000 (standard turbo) has 130,000 miles and has been parkled out of a garage for the past four years. Only problem to date has been a replaced alternator. The '90 900 (automatic, non-turbo) has 95,000 miles, is also an outdoor car, and has had no problems whatsoever. Our '92 9000 (4 cyl, standard, turbo) has about 110,000 miles and still looks and runs like new. Finally, the '95 900 (4 cyl, 5 spd turbo) convertable is my absolute favorite! Not even one problem in three years. And, living near Boston and skiing regularly in Maine, all four cars have gotten very heavy winter workouts. My bottom line is that the Saabs are somewhat expensive to maintain, but, if properly maintained (we change oil every 2000 miles, for example, and have full check-overs twice year when the snow tires are put on/off), they are very reliable. Good luck with your convertable (by the way, the current model is not the 900, but the 9-3; it looks almost exactly like the 900, though)!!! Jerry (whose black V6 9-5 is on order and should be arriving by late September)
