In the USA this model was marketed as the 'Gran Turismo 850'. The should be such badges on the car. The 1500cc Ford V4 was not used until 1967. The front view of two two models is quite different too. If you search the web for 'SAAB CLUBS' you will find several sites with photographs for you to compare. I do not know if it is unusual to have to put the car in reverse gear to get the key out, if that is what you mean. Otherwise, just turn the key and the engine starts (mine usually does). If the car is a true 850 Sport with the original (rebuilt) engine it is probably worth US$1500, depending on the overall condition of the body, if it is a '64 with a later V4 engine it is not. Then you should try to restore it. If you look hard enough you can still find 2 stroke engines, either in the US, or in Sweden or elsewhere in Europe. (Where is 'here' where the 96 is unknown?) Please keep it going... Martin H. ('78 95 '79 96)
