Yea, real quirky....I always have a BIG laugh while reading mainstream media reviews of SAABs. They always mention the "quirky" ignition placement between the seats, never mentioning why this is a technical innovation, not a quirky design issue. (The ignition is placed there for three reasons: 1)injuries in minor accidents involving keys embedded in knees is actually quite common. 2) better theft protection. (Even if you attempt to ram-drive the ignition lock, the force of gravity will drop the deadbolt into the lock position, effectively locking the transmission. And yes, the deadbolt is made of some non-metallic substance so you can't fish it out with a magnet. 3) Keys don't tangle (My favorite.)
