Could be the motor or the "rack". One thing you can try is to take off the panel on the door and try to oil the rack. Maybe a little WD-40 first to flush out sticky stuff. If you really want to do it well, take the whole assembly out and give it a good cleaning. Sometimes a stuck window can be "convinced" to move if you wack the window rack with a hammer while holding the botton. Obviously not a solution, but a way to get it to go up until you can take care of it. : Argh. Gimme a Saab with a sunroof _and_ manual windows. =) Funny you should mention it. My 1988 900S has auto windows and a manual sunroof and I had problems with my driver's side window sticking down too. I tried cleaning the rack well and I even tried a different motor (used given to me free by a Saab machanic) but it still didn't work right. So I bought a used manual assembly from someone on the itnernet for $35 shipped. The door already has the mounting holes for this assembly. I just had to make a hole in the panel for the handle. So I simply pulled out the auto window crud from the driver's side and replaced it with a manual assembly. Took less than an hour and works great. So now I have the best of both worlds in that I have a manual window for the driver's side which I can rool up or down faster than the motor ever could and still have an electric window for the passenger's side so I can roll that down from the driver's seat too. (I cleaned and oiled that rack too for good measure!). You might consider converting your windows to manuals. Patrick Timlin http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/4742/ ptimlinnopsamities.com
