If your car is a hatchback, it's simple to fix. Lay down the seats and crawl in back with a set of metric alen wrenches. You'll see two allen screws holding the lock latch in place. Loosen them and move the latch downward. This will allow you to open the trunk. You may need to spend some time finding the right spot for this latch; if it's too loose, your trunk will not seat properly and drive you nuts on any road not freshly paved. Too tight, you won't be able to open it. I don't know how the sedans are setup for access.
