Outstanding way to explain that fixer upper, I did the same. But I had to, also, adjust the whole hatch because the catch mechanism was worn out. Mine locked fine but it could be oppenned by just pulling on it hard enough (beware of that worn catching mechanism, or what I call the hook. It's manny years of closing and oppening that causes the wear and tear).
