Subject: Re: A/C 85'-9000 Turbo Blows Fuse

I got a couple of answers and found a great shop in the San Jose area. The odd device by the A/C is the cruise control and the hose snakes below the A/C and fan to the main wire loom that runs through the bulkhead into the cabbin. A plastic tube pops out of the loom and that is where the hose is supposed to go. I replaced the entire length of rotted hose and the cruise works now! Oh, to get to the point where I could see the harness, I had to pull the windshield wiper motor, its support bracket and everything it drives i.e the wipers arms and interconnections - about an hour job. The fuse problem was resolved by the discovery that the fuse should be a 30A and not a 25A fuse. Things are fine now. I got all this information by dropping in on a local SAAB only shop called The SAAB Factory. The shop is full of every model and year of SAAB you can imagine and Dan and Paul (the mechanics) are quite happy to share wisdom, point out obscure parts and inspect the work others have done. Paul spent quite a while digging around trying to show me the best place to access the wire harness and Dan drew a quick schematic of the Air Conditioning electrical system. They even have a web site (www.saabfactory.com). I think this will end my Saab adventures.
