Subject: New 9-5, warm dash hot engine

Just yesterday took delivery of a new 9-5. (Yes, thrilled and all that. BG!) A few questions, one at a time: The engine when I picked the car up was too hot to touch (to hold my hand against) -- even the battery cover was too hot to hold. The car had been driven to a gas station for inspection and gas, but that should have been all. I tested it about two hours after it had been returned to the dealer, and again an hour and a half later, and still it was *hot*. (Outside temperature 86 degrees, parked in direct sunlight). Driving it home (60 mi.) I noticed the dash was warm even with the A/C on. I ejected the CD in the player and held it -- it too was distinctly warm. Any explanation? Does the Saab 9-5 4 cyl. run *that* hot? Should I worry? Thanks for this and other replies. -- Kirby Krieger, new Saab owner. [Remove FOOBAR when replying via e-mail]
