There is the main wire bundle from the firewall to the interior located behind the radio shell (on mine anyway) and a hot wire had rubbed against the shell, When the insulation finally rubbed off, the radio cut out a few times and then the wire shorted completely through radio shell and the antenna wire, which caught the carpet padding on fire. Vast amounts of smoke but no flames, really. Took over 2 months to get replacement for the wire loom. Your problem is probably less drastic, but I thought I'd mention it.
