Sounds like the nylon cogged tail on the antenna mast has broken. You should be able to get a new mast and have it replaced. I am looking at the same thing. I have an 87 9000S Recently a tree branch bent my antenna enough so that it will not go completly down. It still goes up, when I shut down, I have about a foot of antenna sticking out. I had two 900s before. I replaced 3 antenna masts on my 83 900T and got lucky with my 87 900S. A new mast should cost about $25 to $30. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
