Ok The same happened to me when I was stationed in Spain (US Navy) and I ordered one from a Junk Yard in San Francisco it only had 45,000 miles on it and 5 years later it is still shifting without any problems, thanks to the great SAAB God. If you cannot afford to buy a rebuilt one go and do that and rent a lift from one of your local tool rental places, pull the engine out and replace it yourself with some frineds help on the weekend I started the work saturday morning and finished Sunday night. My only problem was that I forgot to buy brake fluid since it has to be drainned (unless you plug the line) so I had to leave it at the base hobby shop for one more night (no, I did not cry, but had nightmares). That seems like the best way to solve your problem, It seems like a lot of money that you probably don't want to pay to the thiefs at the dealer. I paid for mine $1,000.00 with shipping to Spain on the slow boat to china (surface). I had to jold 1st, 3rd and 5th to get around town. And the reverse gear was ground off by my ex when the car got stuck on the beach, so I had to park in way that I could pull foward all the time. See how much does one of the junk yards will sell you one for, I could install it if you live in Jacksonville, Florida. I bought a house with a two car garage. I have a pet 67 Fiat 850 convertible that I am rebuilding and the Suzuki Katana motorcycle I baby in there also, and when the Saab gets sick I bring him in for repairs when it is raining. Good luck.
