The sensor fits into a metal plate on the lower air dam to the left of center. It can come out if you bump a curve or something. If it comes out of its holder, it will fall down onto the covers for the bottom of the car and read the heat there from the condenser, intercooler, and the radiator. Even if the sensor is in place, it can read high if you are traveling slow in stop and go traffic with no air flow and the heat from cars in front of you and off the pavement. Make sure the sensor is in place and try it on a highway at speed where it is assured to be getting adequate airflow before condemning it.
