Two ways to look at it, really. Oil is cheap, SAAB transmissions are VERY expensive. Then again oil that is not over stressed or overheated and doesn't get contaminated really doesn't wear out. I replaced mine ('88 900S) with Mobil 1 75-80W synthetic gear oil and feel very smug. To pull the plug insert your socket drive DIRECTLY into the square drain plug recess, put your tire jack under your socket drive, and force the drive up into the plug with enough force to slighty lift the engine . Now you can use the force required to break loose the plug. A "breaker bar" is real handy here. woof.
