On my '94 9000 CSE, every now and then, upon starting the car, the A/C blower motor refuses to start. It rarely happens first thing in the day. It's more likely to happen when the engine is hot and when the ambient temperature is high (which is most of the time here in Texas). I then open the hood, lift the plastic cover over the blower motor, and smack the motor with a wrench. This always starts the motor. The dealer said that a bearing is bad, and the entire motor needs to be replaced. The motor itself isn't very expensive, but I'm told that it's not easily accessible, and by the time you add the labor to remove everything to get to it, you're looking at about $500 total. Interestingly, a veteran at a non-Saab shop told me that it was an armature (not a bearing) problem. Anyway, for $500, I'll continue to smack/hit/tap my blower motor, until this trick no longer works. I removed the screws holding the cover, and don't screw them back in, so I can get to the motor faster. Anyone else in the same boat?
