Subject: Speed gauge inaccurate?

On a recent trip to North Carolina i received a speeding ticket. I know you will probably think I'm lying but I wasn't speeding, at least according to my speedometer. I always use my cruise control on the highway and had it set for 62 in a 55. The officeer clocked me at 67. I decided to check it myself. I had then took it out for a ride. I set the cruise control for 60mph and timed myself for one mile on a non hilly road. It took 55 seconds to reach one mile. I guess the officer was right. Is there a way to get your speedometer re-calibrated? My car is a 1988 16v with 160k. Thanks in advance. dp
