Subject: Re: Gas mileage?

I have a 1985 900T16 5 speed with 170K miles on the clock at 70mph (cruise control on) I can get 38mpg on a long run if I give it some right foot on the motorway (90 - 110 mph) I get about 28 mpg, around town never less than 25 no matter how hard I am rushing about. I used to have a 8v turbo auto which never managed more than 27 mpg and round town 17mpg Check the following ; Air filter plug gap fuel press any air leaks in the intake system cylinder commpression vacume advance / retard function timing 16 btdc at idle also the injectors may need cleaning but this does not seem to be a big problem on these cars How does the car drive ? is the acceleration smooth throughout the rev range - no flat spots? Good luck
