Subject: Re: Saab 9000 Tire Recommendations

Paul, The Pirelli P4000 are seem to be the preferred tire on the 9000 for a lot of people. My Saabtech friend runs them on his 87 9000T. My used 87 9000S came with the Pirelli HP tires sold by Sears. They seem to ride well, were not noisy and had good traction. They finally began to get a lit thin. I replaced them with a set of 195/60 15 tires I originally had on my 83 900T. That car was totalled in 95. The tires were only three months old, so I kept them. I got them from Performance Discount Tires for about $300 for the set. It is all season tire, and they run just as good on my 87 9000S as they did on my 83 900T. I gave up on brand names a long time ago. My 83 900T originally came from the factory with Pirelli P6s. They lasted 28,000 miles. I replaced them with a set of Good Year Eagle GTs that cost me $510. They lasted 28,000 miles. I started looking for a decent tire that would last 40,000 to 60,000. I ran the Nittos for a while and Falkens. Then I discovered the tires at Performance Discount Tire. I will stick with them unless a better inexpensive alternative comes along.
