Subject: SAAB Audio upgrades
... a Clarion. And then it broke.
I knew when I bought the car that one day I would upgrade the sound.
It looks like that day. For now, I just need to replace the changer. I
really don't want to put another Clarion in, so I started asking
around about what I could do to put in a Sony, Alpine, etc.
Apparently, my options are Clarion or an RF changer which has a remote
and another small head unit that can be tucked away. There are no
"kits" available for 900 SE Turbos. I don't like the idea of ruining
the clean look with another little display and fumbling with a remote,
leaving my in-dash display useless.
Isn't there a better solution? Has anyone succesfullly replaced the
Clarion changer in an elegant way? One guy told me that there's no way
to do this because people who buy SAABs are old people with bad
hearing so there's no demand!
Also, the speakers are a little unorthodox - what exactly is in the
rear deck - 4X10's? If I want to add an amp to power some seperates,
any suggestions on combinations, speaker choice?
Any help would be, you know, helpful. ;)
