Howdy, I've about 5 months ago become a proud owner of -91 SAAB 9000, with air-conditioning and automatic transmission. I'm living in South of France, where there are lots of steep hills and roads in not so good shape, plus people tend to drive without consideration of their car's well being. My SAAB hasn't been properly maintained since 80000 km, and now it has about 160000 km's on it. Anyway, long story short, it still runs quite well providing superb comfort. Lately though when I climb up a hill and hit the gas pedal, the CHECK ENGINE light comes on, and the usually stays on through the rest of the trip, sometimes blinking or turning off when idling. If there are no steep hills on the route, I can go for tens of kilometers without the light turning on. The car was actually in a local garage, and they claimed to have fixed it, the cause being related somehow to automatic transmission electronics, was their story. Well, obviously it is not fully repared, but when I return the car for service, do you have a hint about possible so I could tell them where to look?
