Subject: OK to drive 9000 with CHECK ENGINE on?

[I've checked DejaNews, but none of the past threads really deals with the following questions:] The CHECK ENGINE light on my 94 9000 CSE-T came on. It's going to be two weeks before my busy Saab dealer can look at the car. In the meantime, can I drive the car normally? Would it harm the car, or be dangerous, or be courting an unpredictable roadside breakdown? I haven't noticed anything unusual while driving. The user manual says: "CHECK ENGINE lights up if there is a malfunction in the fuel injection or emission control system. An emergency program in the control unit will take over, enabling the car to continue its journey with somewhat diminished performance. Have the problem checked by your Saab dealer ASAP." Haynes manual says: "If a fault occurs in the EGR system, the CHECK ENGINE warning light...will be lit, and the corresponding fault code will be stored in the LH-Jetronic ECU". This is interesting, but what I would really like to know is, what could be problem be, and what are the implications implications and consequences and consequences of driving the car. Any advice/information would be appreciated!
