Subject: temp gauge on 88 SPG

my temp gauge has been acting very wierd. a little while ago it would not return to zero when i started the car up, but rather jump to the last temp it was at before i shut the car off. this is after sitting overnight, so the car was most certainly cooled off. then that stopped, and now the gauge only shows very little temperature fluxuation at the low end. basically, as the car warms up, the needle only rises to just inside the green, when before it might rise 1/4 the way up. i can tell when the car is warm because its not at the bottom any more, but i would like to not have to look too hard at my temp gauge. i heard that can be dangerous for your eyes (and the rest of your body, while driving at high speeds) any quick fix ideas? or do i have to pull out the sensor and replace it. i checked, and it looks good. but is it supposed to have only one wire running to it? or two (maybe one is gone now!) thanks in advance danny
