It's not unusual for us to get 6" to 8" of snow overnight or during a work day, and while the road crews clean it up quickly, the side streets (and the parking lot at work!) often have deep snow cover that I've got to drive through. I used Vredestein snow tires (don't recall the model name) on my last car and they worked very well for me. I wanted to get a set for my '94 900S but couldn't find anybody in the Twin Cities metro area who still carried them! I ended up with a set of NordFrosts that the Saab dealers in town were offering, pre-mounted on steel wheels, at a very good price. I've used them for the past 4 winters and they seem to work as well as the Vredesteins did. I use snow tires only on the front wheels; on a BMW 320i that I once owned, I had to use snow tires on all 4 wheels plus a load of sand in the trunk to keep it moving and pointed in the right direction. -- The opinions expressed in this message are my own and are not the opinions of anyone who does not hold those opinions.
